The AWC is part of a global citizen science programme that monitors the status and distribution of waterbirds and wetlands. BWS members contribute by surveying key wetlands across the region every January, generating vital data that feeds into international conservation assessments.

BWS coordinated systematic waterfowl counts at over 80 wetland sites across West Bengal, engaging more than 125 volunteers including students, teachers, and local youth.
